Lea Elm
I’m a Danish photographer and writer living by the coast in South East England alongside my partner.
My photographic work is mostly documentary in nature, informed by the places I have inhabited or been a visitor to. It is often fragmentary and centred on singular, fleeting moments while exploring ideas about transience, memory and belonging, as well as inner, often quiet emotion.
I use a mix of digital, instant and 35mm cameras across both colour and monochrome, as well as hybrid and alternative processes, too.
I usually work on several projects simultaneously and in recent years I have been focusing on prints, artist books, zines and handbound one-off photo books.

Photography, print and writing influence each other in my work, which can be see in what I am inspired by and in some of my photography work that has been published and accompanied by text.
I was also the 2nd place winner for my poem Paper Houses at The Disabled Poets Prize 2023.
